Situation:
A consulting firm, with over 5,000 employees in over 150 US offices decided to grow through an aggressive acquisition strategy. This strategy led to an increase in the number of systems and vendors it had to manage. The firm noticed a large increase in telecom fees but lacked the internal capacity to remedy the situation.
Approach:
Vector’s Cost and Vendor Management Leader, Michael Salazar and his team reviewed vendor agreements and invoices for all telecom vendors across the organization. They also completed an inventory assessment and various studies to determine usage patterns. This information was compiled into a comprehensive report identifying a strategy to:
- Remove over-provisioned services
- Consolidate vendors and systems
- Identify appropriate rate plans
- Renegotiate contracts with vendors
Once the plan was approved by the organization’s leadership team, the team commenced the implementation stage and began to execute the plan.
Results:
Telecom vendor fees were reduced by 90% across the organization. This resulted in annual savings in excess of $600,000.
